This book is fabulous! Astonishing close-up photographs of spectacular birds from the most beautiful and exotic to those some might call "ugly." What they all are is fascinating. Any bird lover would seriously dig this book.

Yes, another vampire book. This time a very UNTwilight and UNTrue Blood story. Shori is a vampire lady, and the world created by Octavia Butler is more sci-fi than Gothic romance. I was utterly fascinated by Shori’s self discovery and the family she creates for herself. And she’s pretty feisty, too.

If you watched any of the Wallander mysteries on Masterpiece Mystery, you’ve got to read the first book in Henning Mankell’s series, Faceless Killers. This is a quick, absorbing read, and you’ll want to keep reading about Detective Wallander, the flawed but likeable Swedish cop. So good! So creepy!

I have no idea how I lived for 36 years without reading this. Thank God someone gave it to me last Christmas! This book is sweet and hilarious — perfect escape reading during these depressing economic times. Not only will you love it but so will your teenage son/daughter/friend/animal lover. So good!!

I love old movies and movie history. My cable box is permanently set on Turner Classic movies. This book sits on the bookcase next to the couch for quick and easy reference. In addition to the lists of winners and nominees, there’s also a lot of great trivia. Love it!

This is my favorite book of 2008. I promise you will fall in love with Wesley just as I did. There is much more to Wesley the Owl than a story about a cute owl. Owls are cooler, smarter, and funnier than you thought. Perfect for nature lovers and young adults, too!
